A Bedtime Story Book

I would like to find a book that my mother read to me when I was a child. The problem is that I can't remember what it was called. I know it was hardcover and I think it was a mostly white cover. I believe the stories were marked by days to read them. I don't know when it was published but it had to be before 1990.
